Workfeed's tip pooling feature simplifies the way you manage and distribute tips among your team. You can effortlessly input tips, either manually or automatically from your POS system, and ensure fair distribution based on employee work hours.
How to create a tip pool
To create a new tip pool:
Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner of your Workfeed screen.
Select Time tracking, then choose Manage tip pools.
Click the blue plus (+) icon.
Name your tip pool and select which empoyees should receive tips by selecting eligible departments and roles.
Click Add tip pool to create the tip pool.
How to add tips
There are two ways to add tips:
Manual entry: Open your tip pool from the tip pool page in the settings. Click Add next to the desired date and enter the amount.
Import from POS: Automatically import tips directly from POS systems such as Square POS and Shopify POS.
How to edit a tip pool
To edit a tip pool:
Click the settings icon in the top-right corner of your Workfeed screen.
Select Time tracking, then choose Manage tip pools.
Click on the pencil icon next to the name of the tip pool you wish to edit.
Make your changes and click save.
How Tip Distribution Works
Workfeed automatically and evenly distributes tips among eligible employees based on their working hours on a specific day.
This is how it works:
Total tips for a day: $40
Employees: 4 employees each working 5 hours
Distribution: Each employee receives $10 for that day
Exporting Tips for Payroll
To export tips for payroll:
Open the tip pool you wish to export.
Select the period for the export.
Click Export to download a CSV file containing detailed tip amounts for each employee.

Can I create multiple tip pools?
Yes, you can create multiple tip pools for different departments or employee groups.
Can I edit eligible employees or departments later?
Absolutely, you can adjust who is eligible to receive tips by editing the tip pool.
What happens if I delete a tip pool?
Deleting a tip pool will permanently remove it and all related tip records. Ensure you've exported any necessary data first.
Can employees see how much they earn in tips?
Yes, employees can view their tip amounts directly within the Workfeed app.
What if my POS system is not listed for automatic import?
Currently, automatic imports are supported for Square POS and Shopify POS. Tips from other systems need to be entered manually. Feel free to contact us if you want to recommend another POS system.
