How does forecasting work?
Workfeed estimates the total number of guests hour by hour based on your historical data.
When looking ahead, the forecast uses two types of data:
Actual bookings – guests who have already booked a table.
Forecasted guests – additional guests we expect based on historical data, such as walk-ins, late bookings, and other relevant factors.
This means the forecast doesn’t just show the bookings you already know about. It provides an estimate of the total number of guests you can expect.
Use the forecast to plan staffing
In the graph, the blue areas show the expected number of guests.
The goal is to find the right guest-to-employee ratio, so your planned staffing matches the expected demand.
For example, if Workfeed expects more guests during a specific time period, you can use the forecast to assess whether you should schedule more employees during those hours.
This gives you a data-driven foundation for scheduling, rather than planning solely based on the bookings that have already been made.
What is required to use forecasting?
To use forecasting, the following needs to be in place:
At least 1 year of booking data
Opening hours set for the relevant departments
Booking data must be mapped to the correct department
